HCG Diet Recipes -TOM Chocolate-For That Time Of The Month

Oriental Ginger Chicken

4.85 Oz chicken

1 cup chicken broth or water
4 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon or orange zest
1 teaspoon fresh ginger
4 tablespoons Bragg’s liquid amino’s
1 tablespoon chopped onion
Stevia to taste
Salt and pepper to taste

Cayenne pepper to taste
In a small sauce pan, sa-uteed chicken in a little lemon juice and water until slightly browned. Add spices, ginger, salt, lemon and stevia. Add Bragg’s liquid amino’s and cook thoroughly. Deglaze the pan periodically by adding a little water. Serve hot and garnish with lemon or orange slices.

Makes 1 serving (1 protein)

Chicken Tarragon
4.85 Oz chicken breast
1/2 cup tarragon and garlic infusion
1 cup chicken broth or water
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon fresh chopped tarragon
1 tablespoon chopped onion
1 clove garlic minced
Dash of mustard powder
Salt and pepper to taste


Heat the chicken broth, vinegar, garlic, and onion in a small saucepan or frying pan. Add chicken and sauteed for about 10 minutes or until chicken is completely cooked and liquid is reduced. Deglaze the pan periodically with a little water to create a sauce. Serve hot.

Chicken Cacciatore
4.85 Oz diced chicken breast
1-2 cups chopped tomatoes
1 cup chicken broth or water
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon Bragg’s liquid amino’s
2 tablespoons chopped onion
2 cloves crushed and minced garlic
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 bay leaf
Pinch of cayenne to taste
Stevia to taste


Brown the chicken with garlic, onion, and lemon juice in a small saucepan. Deglaze the pan with the chicken broth. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, vinegar and spices. Simmer on low heat for 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove the bay leaf and serve hot.
Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable

4.0 Oz Ground beef (lean) for each serving
1 serving Melba toast crumbs
1 ketchup recipe
1 tablespoon chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
Cayenne to taste
1 teaspoon paprika


Crush Melba toast into fine powder. Mix with the ground beef, chopped onion and spices. Place in a baking dish, loaf pan or muffin tin for single servings. Baste with ketchup recipe mixture and bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Cook longer for multiple servings using a loaf pan. Phase 2 variations: Use
apple pulp after juicing to make meatloaf sweet and moist.
Makes 1 or more servings (1 protein, 1 vegetable, 1 Melba toast)

Ground Beef Tacos
4.0 Oz lean ground beef
Lettuce leaves
1 tablespoon finely minced onion
1 clove crushed and minced garlic
Dash of garlic powder
Dash of onion powder
of dried oregano
Fresh chopped cilantro to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste
Salt and black pepper to taste


Brown ground beef. Add onion, garlic, and spices and a little water and simmer gently for 5-10 minutes. Add salt to taste. Serve taco style in butter lettuce or romaine leaf mock tortillas or with a side of tomatoes or salsa.
Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable)
Phase 3 modifications: Serve with cheddar cheese, sour cream and guacamole.

Veal Italian Style (Try with chicken)
4.5 Oz veal cutlet
1 serving Melba toast crumbs
1 recipe marinara sauce
1 tablespoon finely minced onion
1 clove of garlic crushed and minced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
Pinch of marjoram
Salt and pepper to taste


Mix Melba toast crumbs with dry spices. Dip cutlet in water or lemon juice and coat with crushed Melba spice mixture. Fry on high heat without oil. Top with marinara sauce and bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. Add a little water to the bottom of the pan if necessary. Garnish with fresh basil,
parsley, leftover Melba spice mixture and salt and pepper to taste.
Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 fruit or vegetable, 1 Melba toast)
Phase 3 modifications: Top with provolone or mozzarella cheese and baste with olive oil. Enjoy with freshly grated Parmesan or sauteed mushrooms

Veal Picatta
4.5 Oz veal cutlet
1 serving Melba toast crumbs
1/2 cup vegetable broth or water
2 tablespoons caper juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 clove of garlic crushed and minced
Pinch of paprika
1 bay leaf
Salt and black pepper to taste


Mix Melba toast crumbs with paprika, salt and pepper. Dip veal cutlet in lemon juice and coat with herbed Melba toast crumbs. Fry veal cutlet in a little lemon juice on high heat until cooked thoroughly.

Set aside cooked veal cutlet. Deglaze the pan with vegetable broth, lemon and caper juice and add chopped garlic and bay leaf. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Top the veal cutlet with remaining lemon sauce and garnish with lemon slices.

12 Ways to Stop Hunger and Food Cravings Super Fast!

When you are hungry, it is so uncomfortable, and is a situation that can be disastrous too. (Meaning cheating.) Usually the hunger will get better, and remember your body is going through some changes, including withdrawal from carbs. Eating an orange or grapefruit might help the low sugar feelings.

So what to do? I have done the diet 2 times. These are just my own suggestions. You won’t find this in Dr. Simeon’s Pounds and Inches.


  1. What I found helped me the best, whether I was really hungry, bored, feeling empty, wanted to snack, tempted to eat something not on the diet, emotionally upset, or whatever it was–I popped a piece of gum. BUT, not just any gum. Some gum can make you hungry. I found some sugar free, green tea diet gum and sometimes I found it with Hoodia that is known to help hunger.

It “saved me” many times. I like Mega-T Green Tea Gum. One piece is equal to two cups of green tea, so you get those benefits, too. I often found it on or else sometimes in Wal-mart.

The Dollar General Store carries a different green tea diet gum, also, and some health food stores.


2. Spices. So what else can you do for hunger?


I found three avenues to slay this dragon. When you are hungry you need help RIGHT NOW! There are the emotional needs, physical needs, and real hunger, so let’s stick with food right now.

I discovered that spices can help.

If you will slice up a tomato and sprinkle on salt, pepper and some Italian spices, it is surprisingly good at allaying hunger. Use good spices on your fish or chicken and you will be more satisfied. Next time I will send on some recipes, including my Blackened Chicken Spice Recipe that I have already sent to a few of you.

3) Eggs. Dr. Simeon’s allowed one egg and two egg whites forvegetarians, for a meat substitute. So that got me to thinking and one day when we had some hard boiled eggs around, I ate one with salt and pepper.

It was between meals and so I cut back on my chicken in the next meal. I suppose it was the fat in the egg yolk, but I was able to get through until the next meal just fine.

4) Pickles. It also is not on Dr. Simeon’s list, but it is amazing what a pickle can do! One small to medium dill pickle has zero fat and  only 1 carbohydrate. And after you eat a pickle, you can resistother foods amazingly well.

(This one was suggested to me by a friend, I don’t know about this one personally.)

5) How many times have you ever brushed your teeth and then decided you didn’t want to eat anything? It can be quite effective.

6) When I went through any kind of “hunger spell” which usually was the first week of a new round of the diet, I found it helps many of our clients.

8) Also, I now take iodine in the form of Kelp, a supplement. Iodine in fish is known to help you lose better because it helps up your metabolism. Iodine is so needed in the diet, that it is added to salt. Please do yourself a favor and only use Iodized salt. Iodine can help prevent hair loss, too.

9) Walking can up metabolism and I read recently that a short 30 minute walk or circuit training routine releases chemicals in the body that actually reduce appetite. Amazing. It is a good distraction and psychologically, if you start your day with a walk, you are much less tempted to eat something you shouldn’t, but I always thought it was just psychological.

Now I know it is based on something physical, too. “Walking alters appetite hormones and plasma lipids by modifications in lipoprotein metabolism and up-regulation of the low-density lipoprotein receptor.” I am not sure where I got that quote, but in some magazine on metabolism or weight loss.

10) HOODIA GORDONII This is a cactus-like plant. This herb has been used to suppress hunger without side effects. I have taken various forms of this over time. You should be able to find these items also at your local health food store.

11) Green tea. I also drink it as much as I can. I often combine it with Woo long tea and Organic Yorba Mate tea. It helps to drink hot or cold tea. It isn’t just the fluid volume, but the tea itself that helps with
appetite. I have been known to take green tea diet capsules

Do whatever it take to stay focused and on the diet.

12) If you like to snack. and find it hard to go without eating something, I found it really helps to have wonderfully grilled and seasoned chicken, cubed and saved in a zip-lock bag in the refrigerator, for a between meal snack. Just one or two cubes can really put off hunger.

Hello Colin, 

I promised I would write when I completed Round 2 Phase 2 of my HCG protocol. As I mentioned before, I started out at around 285lbs on September 12th 2009, this was not due to being lazy or overeating, though I am sure it contributed to my weight gain. As I mentioned, I was a competitive athlete who had two major knee surgeries and spent 6 months laid up and unable to train or workout.
The only reason I mention this now, is because I think it plays an important role in what I am about to say.
I have been reading your blogs and questions that you receive. I would say without a doubt your response is spot on. But I digress, I am writing to tell you about my success on the 2nd round of my phase 2 diet. As I mentioned I started off 285lbs in September, I had managed to balloon up from 225lbs at 12-14% BF in a matter of a year. Keep in mind, during this year I did nothing but eat and complain about my situation.
I finally got sick and tired of complaining and decided to put forth an honest effort to correct my current disposition.

As I mentioned at the time of my initial email during Christmas Eve, I was down to 240lbs from 285lbs in 6 weeks, I was able to hold the weight through Thanksgiving and up until Christmas. By the beginning of the New Year and the beginning of my 2nd Round on the HCG protocol, I was weighing in at 252lbs after my 3 day gorge.

I was disappointed at the amount of weight I gained in a week, but I was able to drop back down to 240lbs within 3 days after my gorge days. I continued on my protocol, pretty spot on for the next 6 weeks and am currently between 215lbs and 217lbs and trying to stabilize my “new weight”.
I will be 100% honest with you and any reader that reads this post. Though I did not feel the hunger pains or the cravings I felt on my first round, it was tougher mentally for me this round. I did not plateau, I only had to do 1 “apple day” it was a very successful round and I managed to get right where I wanted to be at the end of round 2. But for whatever reason, mentally it was a lot tougher.

I am also finding it harder to stabilize my weight this time. Though I am actually eating cleaner than I had done during my stabilization phase my first go. I also noticed a significant amount of muscle loss this time. My body fat % went down about 4%, but I am smaller now than when I was 225lbs and muscular.

I would cut down to 205lbs to compete and it looked a lot different than the 215lbs I find myself at now. But I expected a tough road, I am not upset or even discouraged at all. I am in the gym daily and maximizing my workouts and working the cardio that I can do. It is so hard to build clean muscle naturally and it is so easy to lose the hard earned muscle. I think for any person to have success with this protocol it requires a complete “life change” approach and not just a “quick fix” approach.
I think anyone attempting this diet needs to understand that it will be very challenging and you need a good amount of discipline to stick it out.
Though you don’t feel “hungry” per say, you do experience food cravings and you do need to ensure you are eating exactly what you are supposed to at the times you are supposed to. Any variation can have a huge negative impact.
I am in my first week of stabilization and once stabilized I will hold the 215-217lbs until May 1st. At that time I will do my final push to hit 195lbs in a short 23 day program. Once I stabilize at 195lbs I will begin my climb back up to 220lbs at 10% BF. I know without a doubt that this is possible, as I have accomplished every goal I have set for myself in regards to the HCG protocol.

Hi Dan, all I can say is wow man… What an amazing, honest and detailed outline of your HCg diet experience. I want to thank you for being so honest and candid when sharing your story.
Anyone who reads this post should be inspired by you. I must agree with you that the 2nd round is much more difficult than the first round mentally. I experienced the same thing when I did my 2nd round, and I am currently doing a third one as well.
It have been over sixteen months since I completed the first and second phases. I believe once you experience the success you get from this diet, the fear of never being able to lose the weight is somewhat gone, so being as disciplined can sometime be difficult.
As far as muscle loss… I don’t think there is a diet that exists where some muscle will not be lost; however, HCG Body for Life  diet protocol attacks the stored fat until that source is no longer available.
